Quite tight and attractive later printing of this oft-reprinted text, first published in German in 1899. Bloch was the first "sexologist," a German psychiatrist and dermatologist (1872-1922) whose discovery of a de Sade manuscript thought lost ("The 120 Days of Sodom") sparked his research into what became the science of sexology and his writing of this and other studies. Dust jacket flap price of $10.00 suggests a post-1948 publication year for this edition; this obscure publisher does not indicate edition in a consistent, verifiable manner. Uncommon in any case and in superb condition.
