Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1942. Hardcover. 8vo. Blue cloth with paper labels. 134pp. Very good. Tight and internally fine, with a bit of age toning to spine and rear board. Item #46451
Handsome first edition of this verse collection, nicely inscribed and signed in scratchy blue ink on front flyleaf "For Father Donahue / with my best wishes / Alfred Noyes." (Reverend James J. Donahue, 1890-1982, was a long-time English professor and critic at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where Noyes lectured in 1943 -- which no doubt is when this was inscribed.).
