A tight and handsome first edition of the second title in this 2-title-only juvenile series, both produced in 1931. The first title ("Rex Cole Jr. and the Crystal Clue") gives a 13-page excerpt from the second title at its conclusion and promises "Other titles in preparation,” and here the second title gives a 6-page excerpt from "Rex Cole, Jr., and the Allenby Affair," but alas this projected third volume never came to pass. The true Barse first editions are rather scarce -- even the Grosset & Dunlap reprints are a bit uncommon. HUDSON 179.
