First edition, tight and handsome. This biography by the Chicago journalist and news anchor was published shortly before Daley's death -- and bears choice autograph addition: Tipped facing title page is a unique frontispiece, an original transmittal envelope inside of which is a Typed Note Signed from Mayor Daley, 1p, 7¼" X 10½", Chicago, IL, 29 May 1973. Addressed to Ralph G. Newman (1912-98), founder of Chicago's noted Abraham Lincoln Book Shop. Near fine. On snazzy "Office of the Mayor" letterhead, Daley sends "My belated thanks for the great memento of Stephen Douglas which you sent for my birthday. You know, I'm sure, that I am extremely pleased to have this memento of his Presidential Campaign." Signed boldly in his typical Irish green fineline.
