MUELLER, George E. (1918-2015).

This electrical engineer directed the Office of Manned Space Flight (1963-69) and introduced the revolutionary concept of "all-up" rocket testing considered critical to Apollo 11's success; his advocacy of space shuttles earned him the moniker "father of the space shuttle." Item #46065

Signed FDC, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Washington, DC on 9 September 1969 and with "First Day of Issue" so noted. Fine. Single 10-cent "First Man on the Moon" stamp at upper right. Never addressed. Mueller signs boldly in full in blue fineline at lower left. With small cancellation portion of original transmittal envelope.
