The Experts.
New York: The Macmillan Company, [1968]. Hardcover. 8vo. Black cloth with gilt spine lettering, dust jacket. xvii, 398pp. Near fine/very good. Faintest of jacket edgewear. Item #45686
Handsome, tight first edition of this (to cite front jacket panel) "scathing indictment of the opinion makers who flood the press, the networks and the policy-making departments of our government with their special brand of instantaneous wisdom." Co-author and investigative journalist Freidin (1917-91) boldly inscribes and signs the title page in blue ballpoint "For Luke Carroll, my old friend & colleague, / Who knows all the "experts" -- / Affectionately, / Si Freidin." (Luke P. Carroll, 1916-82, served as managing editor of "The New York Herald Tribune" and "Chicago's American" before becoming editor of "Chicago Today" in 1968.).
