A tight, decent copy of this anonymous reissue of Schoolcraft's 1850 "The American Indians. Their History, Condition and Prospects, from Original Notes and Manuscripts" -- itself a new edition of his 1848 "The Indian in His Wigwam, or Characteristics of the Red Race of America." Though not so marked, from the library of Union brigadier general Mahlon D. Manson (1820-95), who had a colorful war career and then served Indiana in Congress (1871-73) and as lieutenant governor (1885-86). SABIN 77882.
