The New Yorker: December 23, 1944.

New York: F-R Publishing Corporation, 1944. Paperback. 4to. Stiff color wrappers. 60pp. Illustrations, line drawings, advertisements (some color). Near fine. Faint bit of rubbing, else tight and nice -- and entirely free of edge tears. Item #44267

Tight and attractive copy (Volume XX, Number 45) of the famed weekly begun in 1925. Front wrapper art by Rea Irvin (1881-1972, illustrator who created the iconic Eustace Tilley portrait for the magazine's 21 February 1925 debut issue) shows a quiet nighttime winter scene of a snow-covered, bombed-out European city, bells tolling on the cathedral in the foreground as snow falls -- quite poignant.
