New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1929. Hardcover. 8vo. Green cloth with black lettering and decoration. x, 328pp. Frontispiece, illustration. Very good. Faintest of edgewear, though internally bright and fine; long, charming 1929 nonauthorial gift inscription on front flyleaf. Item #43126
A tight, attractive first edition of this cowboy novel -- with superb autograph addition: Tipped to an inner flyleaf is a heavy stock buff 5" X 3" preprinted postal card bearing James large and bold signature in brown ink, dated by him "'34." Verso bears postal cancellation of Tucson, Arizona on 15 January 1934 and typed recipient address (noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar Arnold Gates,1914-93). A nice copy with choice signature.
