Los Angeles: Los Angeles Corral of the Westerners, 1948-74. Hardcover. 14 volumes. Small 4to. Various color leatherette spines with gilt lettering and cloth over bevelled boards (last few volumes are full cloth), pictorial dust jackets (except #12, issued with heavy clear mylar wrapper -- still present). Various paginations (most between 200-300pp). Numerous illustrations, maps, occasional foldouts, pictorial endpapers. Overall very good/very good. Most volumes vary from very good to near fine; jackets range from good plus to near fine -- most show slight to moderate edgewear, some with a few edge chips and archivally closed (on verso) edge tears, though some later jackets are closer to near fine; some volumes have Western brand-theme bookplate or brand-theme ownership signature. Item #42853

Complete set of the first 14 volumes of the almost-annual book of this L.A. organization, founded in 1946, all tight and handsome. Every volume had a different guest editor, and all together the contents represent a veritable "Who's Who" of Western Americana writers covering every Western topic imaginable. Frank M. King, Noah Beery Jr., Iron Eyes Cody, E.A. Brininstool, Ramon Adams, Paul I. Wellman, Joseph Mills Hanson, LeRoy R. Hafen, Robert Cleland, Glen Dawson, Carl W. Breihan -- these are but a few of the notable historians and Western writers whose work graces these pages. Each volume is limited, quantities varying from 400 copies to 600 copies. A wonderful, large grouping of these uncommon titles.
