Lincoln's Imagery: A Study in Word Power. Theodore C. BLEGEN.

Lincoln's Imagery: A Study in Word Power.

La Crosse, WI: Sumac Press, 1954. Hardcover. Small 4to. Light green cloth with red lettering. 32pp. Illustration. Near fine. Item #42665

Tight, attractive first edition of this essay by the superb Minnesota historian and published by this interesting small Wisconsin press, limited to 780 copies. Best of all, this copy is boldly inscribed and signed by the author in black ink on front flyleaf: "To Erik Reed / with the good wishes / of the author / Theodore C. Blegen." Reed was a well-known National Park Service archaeologist in the southwest. Signed copies of this title are rarely seen. The light green binding is seen far less often than the tan cloth version, although no priority is established. Tipped in at rear is a finely printed 1p 5 3/4" X 9½" handbill promoting this title. All in all an exceptional copy of this scarce title.

Price: $100.00
