This Czechoslovakian politician served as that country's prime minister (1921-22) and as president from 1935 until forced out by the Nazis in 1938; he served in exile until the war's end, when he resumed office and served until 1948. Item #41383

On colorful pictorial letterhead of "Hotels Windermerem" where he resided during a teaching stint at the University of Chicago, Benes sends "thanks for your kind greetings sent to me on the occasion of my birthday. I will be very glad to receive the pictures you took during my stay in Cleveland...." Huge bold signature in black ink. A superb example signed while in exile.
