A tight, attractive first edition of this historical novel set in western Pennsylvania in the mid-18th century, with a fine autograph addition: Tipped to the title page is a Typed Note Signed from Fowley, 1p, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., n.y. On the blank verso of a preprinted reservation card for a 11 September 1962 meeting of the Civil War Round Table of New York (which Fowler signs in black ballpoint), he writes to noted Lincoln/Civil War scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93), long-time CWRT officer, about various Round Table matters. Signed simply "Bob" in red ballpoint. Fowler (1926-2002) was a Civil War historian and author of the novel "Jim Mundy: A Novel of the American Civil War."
