Thanks this admirer for birthday wishes, adding: "I'm so glad you like COMMON SENSE ABOUT DRAMA. The critics on your side of the water didn't take too kindly to it, so a word of praise is doubly welcome. I've just finished a new novel -- THE BAY -- which I hope will be out in the fall...." A nice example.
