TALMADGE, Herman E. (1913-2002).

This Georgian Democrat served the peach state as 70th governor (1947-1948-55) and as senator (1957-81); in 1979 he became the only eighth U.S. Senator officially censured -- for "Improper financial conduct, accepting reimbursements for official expenses not incurred, and improper reporting of campaign receipts and expenditures."
