A wonderfully tight and handsome undated copy of this children's classic, entirely in German -- the best known title by Swedish illustrator Beskow (1874-1953). Title translation: "Hänschen in the Blueberry Forest: A New Picture Book by Elsa Beskow." Brandt provides the rhymes that accompany Beskow’s delightful images. Charming front cover graphic depicts a young boy in cap and short pants clutching two woven baskets in a wooded setting. Some sources suggest a publication date of circa 1905 -- given the paper and materials, the typefaces and colors, plus a subtitle calling it a "New" picture book, a publication date a few years after the first 1901 appearance seems consistent and logical. Possibly the first German edition? A superb and lovely copy -- and in the rarely present dust jacket.
