This Illinois attorney and politician served as editor of the "Chicago Democrat" and as a Democrat was elected to Congress five times (1843-51, 1853-55); changing to Republican, he was twice elected mayor of Chicago (1857-58, 1860-61) and once more to Congress (1865-67). A large and bold signature and "Chicago / Illinois" penned in brown ink on a 4½" X 2¼" slip, n.y. Very good. A tad age toned, with faint show-through from small mounting traces on verso. Accompanied by a modern reproduction of a contemporary head-and-shoulders portrait of Wentworth. Item #39376
