Typed Letter Signed.

This German-born American painter once worked for the Works Progress Administration (WPA), and developed a realistic, wholesome yet disquieting style that earned him comparisons with Grant Wood and Salvador Dali. Cordial note to an educator and admirer, reading in part: "I do not have any drawings or sketches available right now but am sending you a book which has a reproduction of one of my paintings on the cover.
