A tight and nice first edition. Covarrubias (1904-57) was a prolific Mexican artist and caricaturist, but also a serious art historian and ethnologist, particularly noted for his analysis of the spread of Mexican tribal art northward. The photographs in this volume are by his noted photographer wife, Rose Covarrubias.
