This Canadian politician and parliamentarian served as Prime Minister Lester Pearson's Minister of Transport (1963) and Minister of Public Works (1965) as well as Government House Leader (1964-67); he was Pierre Trudeau's Minister of Public Works and Solicitor-General of Canada (1968-70). TLS, 1p, 8" X 9½", Canada, 1964 May 6. Addressed to George Gianetti. Near fine. On embossed "President of the Privy Council" letterhead, McIlraith adds cordially to a collection with an unusual focus: "...your parents wrote me and mentioned the collection of photographs you are making of men named George who hold positions of responsibility, and asked me if I could add my own photograph to your collection...." Boldly signed in full in blue ballpoint. Alas, my sought after photograph mentioned is not present -- but a nice and unusual letter of Canadiana nonetheless. Item #31593
