Nicknamed "Kup," this Chicago fixture was a long-time journalist and television and radio personality; his synbdicated "Kup's Column" began in the "Chicago Sun-Times" in 1943 and ran for over half a century; his syndicated television talk show ran from 1959 to 1986, and in 1957 he briefly replaced Jack Paar on "The Tonight Show." Item #31515

Signed Postal Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Chicago, Illinois on 1947 April 29 -- hence NOT a First Day Cover, as this stamp was first issued in New York City on 10 April 1947. Single 3-cent "Joseph Pulitzer" stamp at upper right. Handsome colorful printed Fleetwood decorative cachet at left; recipient's name/address typed in (noted Chicago FDC collector Paul G. Klawans). Very good. Mild bit of age toning. Kupcinet signs large and bold in red ballpoint near the center, vertically. Nice Chicago journalism item from a renowned journalist -- who never won a Pulitzer!
