First of this edition, a fine facsimile of the rare first edition of the first part (Venice, 1593) and the "Seconda Parte" (Venice, 1609) -- itself fairly uncommon. Diruta (ca. 1554-post 1610) was an Italian organist and composer who published a famous two-part treatise ("The Transylvanian") on organ playing and technique, counterpoint and composition. From the collection of musicologist and conductor/director Paul Clinton Echols (1944-94).
