This first and second baseman debuted in 1921 with the Cincinnati Reds (until 1924), playing also for the Philadelphia Phillies (1925), Cleveland Indians (1927-31) and Chicago White Sox (1931-33); he plays himself in the 1927 silent comedy "Slide, Kelly, Slide," a film that supposedly got him interested in using film footage to analyze baseball games and players, which practice he pioneered as manager of the White Sox (1932-34).
