Signature and Inscription.

This American composer and conductor served in World War One as bandmaster of the American Expeditionary Forces Band, then co-founded and became first conductor of the New Jersey Orchestra; in 1929 he became conductor of the popular radio orchestra, the Bamberger Little Symphony. Signature and inscription, 4½" X 7", n.p., 1931 February 26. Fine. Large "For the indefatigable / Mr. Howes Norris, Jr.," signed and dated, on a special letterhead prepared by this well-known collector. Comes with small magazine photograph of James. Item #28660
