The Glorious Hour of Lt. Monroe.
New York: Atheneum, 1976. Hardcover. Small 4to. Red cloth, dust jacket. 170pp. Illustrations, maps. Very good/very good. Item #27745
Tight, attractive first edition of this tale of a young James Monroe during the Revolutionary War-- mildest of ex-library, with very few and very few discreet markings. Bears a nice autograph addition: Tipped to the front flyleaf is a Typed Note Signed, 1p, 7¼" X 10½", Larchmont, NY, 1969 March 5. Addressed to noted Lincoln scholar Arnold F. Gates (1914-93). Near fine. "Lincoln Herald" (which Gates served as book reviewer) chitchat, closing with, "Is there any really outstanding Lincoln scholar in the New York area?"
