The Silver Crisis.

Lake Forest, IL: Hickory Press, 1964. Paperback. 8vo. Stiff glossy red, white and blue wrappers. vi, 139pp. Illustrations, charts, maps. Very good. Outer wrappers (only) somewhat rubbed. Item #23628

First edition, tight and nice, of "This important book," proclaims the front wrapper, which "reveals the weakness of Washington's Silver policy -- its importance to defense and domestic requirements -- the world wide shortage of this vital metal -- the Chaos in Coins!" Graham signs this copy boldly on the title page, then inscribes it beneath: "To my long time friend / Thee Chapman. / Perhaps Scott Forsman / can use this as a text on / the silver crisis of 1964-1966 / once the author / learns how to spell. / Best luck / Hick." (Chapman was part-owner of the Chicago publishing firm of Scott, Foresman and Company.) Laid in is a 2pp 4to printed promotional text, an excerpt by Graham on letterhead of a Chicago investment company. Interesting association copy -- would have been quite a coup for a small specialist press to get the mammoth educational publisher to reprint or distribute their title.
