Anyone who has studied botany knows the co-author (with Donald Anderson) of the 1939 classic "Plant Physiology: A Textbook for Colleges," an influential text; one of the outstanding plant physiologists and educators in the field, he edited the "American Journal of Botany" from 1946 to 1951. Signed First Day Cover, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Seattle, Washington on 23 August 1969 and with "First Day of Issue" stamped. Fine. Four stamp block of 6-cent "International Botanical Congress" stamps (each depicting a different plant) at upper right. No decorative cachet at left; no recipient's name/address. Near the "sweet spot," Meyer signs boldly and in full in black ballpoint. Small portion of original transmittal envelope present. Item #22918
