This English member of the House of Parliament is better known for lightweight satirical verse such as "Stanzas to the Speaker Asleep" and other witty society pieces. Front panel of free-franked envelope, 1p, 5" X 3", St. Leonard's on Sea, England, 1836 January 11. Very good. Interesting "Hastings Penny Post" cancellation. Handsome piece, addressed in Praed's hand to "The Elder Brethren / of the / Trinity House / London" and franked by him at lower left. Praed died at the young age of thirty-seven, making his autograph somewhat uncommon. Item #22665
