Norwegian-born American author whose 1874 novel "Gunnar" placed him on the literary map; his output of fiction and literary criticism almost equals that of his mentor, William Dean Howells. Item #20915
Clipped signature and salutation, 4 3/4" X 2", n.p., n.y. Very good. Mounting traces on verso. Large, bold "Very truly yours / Hjalmar H. Boyesen." Verso bears a number of words in his hand as well. Rather uncommon.
