The History of Rome, from the Foundation of the City of Rome, to the Destruction of the Western Empire.

London: F.C. and J. Rivington, 1821. Hardcover. Complete 2-volume set. 8vo. Half burgundy leather and blind-embossed burgundy cloth. xv, 449pp; viii, 474pp. Good plus. Hinges tight, but leather spines sunned to a dark gold; minor edgewear; touch of spotting and foxing, mainly to endpapers. Item #12170

Thirteenth edition, a fairly attractive set despite wear. Front pastedown of Volume I and rear pastedown of Volume II bear attractive 19th century armorial bookplate of "Cremorne" -- probably the British nobleman Richard Thomas Dawson (1788-1885), Baron Dartrey and Lord Cremorne; "Cremorne / 1827" also inked on both half-title pages. An interesting set.
