This British cartoonist created the flat-capped English working class bloke "Andy Capp" in 1957 and it occupied him for the next forty years, syndicated in 700 newspapers worldwide. Item #45817
PS, 10" X 8", n.p., n.y. Near fine. Glossy reproduction of a four-panel "Andy Capp" daily strip (#2389), perhaps a proof copy of some sort. Andy and wife Flo walk together side by side, both looking straight ahead; he then cranes his head to look behind him at the legs of a skirt that's just passed, which Flo notices; an annoyed-looking Flo then walks ahead of him a bit as they continue on; and finally you see them from behind as she says to him "Well, did she pass 'er physical?" to which he replies "Shaddap." In the blank margin at upper left the cartoonist pens "Cheers! / Reg Smythe" large and bold in black ink.
