N.p. N.p., n.y. Group of twenty color prints. 4to (9" X 12"). Fine. Item #45227
Pristine suite of 20 color prints -- if issued as portfolio lacking the wraparound folder, as it is completely deviod of publishing information. Each features two or three soldiers in foreground a field setting with action in the background and each is captioned "The American Soldier" plus a year and below this in smaller type a two-line description. Chronologically, they run from "The American Soldier, 1791" ("Artilleryman, New York or New Jersey Infantry Officer. New England and Middle Atlantic States Infantry Lines") through "The American Soldier, 1963" ("Officer, Private and Sergeant, Airborne Troops. Women's Army Corps Officer") -- which may date this grouping to the mid-1960s. A remarkable, detailed grouping by the renowned artist (1902-92) nicknamed the "dean of military illustrators."
