Personal copy of Illinois governor and two-time Democratic presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65), with his rubberstamped ownership signature at top of half-title page, and below this a bold author inscription and signature: "To Adlai Stevenson / with good wishes. / Louis Fischer / March '56" in blue ballpoint. Stevenson himself is mentioned on several pages.
